Students from the Catholic University of Malawi (Cunima) under Writers Club and the University of Malawi (Unima) under Writers Workshop have been urged to connect with well-established writers in Malawi and beyond to improve their writing skills.
Speaking during a meeting that was hosted at the Catholic University of Malawi on Saturday last week, a lecturer in the department of languages and communication studies at the university, Ernest Longwe, challenged the students from the two institutions to eye connections for the perfection of their writing.
“As writers, you need to connect with well-established writers regardless of where they are, whether in Malawi or somewhere else; they will help to perfect your work,” said Longwe.
Longwe added on the need for the students to read more of what others have published and to take time to practice their writing skills through writing poems, short stories, and articles, just to name some.
He further invited the students from the two institutions to do research, which will help them have a good piece of writing.
The president of the Writers Workshop at the University of Malawi, Alfred Kamwendo, commended the meeting with their students, saying they had shared knowledge on how they could improve as upcoming writers.
Kamwendo added that their encounter has also helped them learn how to run their grouping at the University of Malawi.
Kamwendo, President of the Writers Club at the Catholic University of Malawi, Abubakar Kalisinje, commended the visit by their students from Unima, saying they have shared knowledge with their counterparts on how they can improve their skills in writing.
Over twenty students from the University of Malawi visited the Catholic University of Malawi last Saturday to meet their fellow students at the university. During their meeting, the students had a presentation of writing skills, round table discussion, and performances that spiced up their gathering.
