The Vice-Chancellor of the Catholic University of Malawi Rev. Fr. Dr. George Buleya has this week appointed interim Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences and Head of the Department of Social Work respectively.
Rev. Fr. Dr. Buleya has appointed Mrs. Agnes Wizi Kambala as interim Dean for the Faculty of Social Work effective Monday, 9th May 2022 following the resignation of Mrs. Loveness Imaan who was the Dean of the Faculty.
The Vice-Chancellor then appointed Mr. Happy Chawawa as Head of the Department for Social Work which was headed by Mrs. Kambala effective Tuesday, 10th May 2022.
Mrs. Kambala served as Head of the Social Work Department from 2020 to the day of her appointment as Interim Dean. She also served as Coordinator for Bridging Programme at the University from 2015 to 2022.
Mr. Chawawa has vast leadership and managerial experience with missionaries of Mary Mediatrix and Eastern Produce Malawi Limited as Assistant Manager.
Mrs. Kambala joined the University in 2011 while Mr. Chawawa joined the University in 2019.
The Catholic University of Malawi has seven faculties namely: Commerce, Education, Law, Nursing and Midwifery, Science, Social Sciences, and Theology.
The University has twenty-three departments namely: Accountancy, Banking & Finance, Marketing, Business Administration, Education, English & Communication Studies, History, Special Needs, Basic Sciences, Geography & Environmental Studies, Mathematical Sciences & Computer Studies, Anthropology, Development Studies, Economics, Political Leadership, Social Work, Community Nursing & Mental Health, Maternal & Child Health, Medical & Surgical Nursing, Clinical Nursing, Biblical & Religious Studies, Philosophy, and Law.
