The Catholic University of Malawi and the Malawi University of Science and Technology (MUST) have received USD 38,691 in full scholarships to support five needy students from each institution from Centenary Bank Malawi.
Speaking after signing the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in Lilongwe, the Director of Academic Affairs at the Catholic University of Malawi, Rev. Fr. Dr. Wilfred Sumani S.J., said the scholarships will go along with supporting students facing economic hiccups.
Fr. Sumani added that the university registers many students who are on the verge of withdrawing due to financial woes.
Concurring with Fr. Sumani, Vice Chancellor for Malawi University of Science and Technology, Professor Address Malata, said the scholarship will ease challenges that needy and deserving students are facing at the institution.
Centenary Bank Managing Director Zandile Shaba said the bank has committed financial support to the students to empower them to reach their full potential and become future leaders, innovators, and visionaries of Malawi.
Centenary Bank has committed to supporting five students from the two institutions with full scholarships for the next four years.
