The Vice-Chancellor of the Catholic University of Malawi Rev. Fr. Dr. George Buleya on 18th October 19, 2022, appointed Mr. Isaac Mwalwimba as the Director of the Centre for Environmental Affairs.
In a memo that has been addressed to Mr. Mwalwimba and copied to other University authorities, the appointment is of immediate effect.
“Having made necessary consultations and contented with your vast experience and expertise in the field of Environmental studies, I am pleased to appoint you as Director of the Centre for Environmental Affairs” reads part of the memo signed by Rev. Dr. Buleya.
As the director of the centre, Mr. Mwalwimba has been challenged with spearheading efforts of the centre to conduct research in environmental studies and natural resources management.
He will also be spearheading and coordinating efforts of the University to reach out to stakeholders on issues of environmental management in the country and beyond.
While in office as the director, Mr. Mwalwimba will be the focal point in the running of the centre, paying particular attention to the objectives and management of the centre contained in the centre’s establishment document endorsed by the Senate.
Mr. Mwalwimba holds a Master of Science in Water Resources and Supply Management obtained from the University of Malawi-Polytechnic now the Malawi University of Business and Applied Sciences MUBAS. Currently, he is a Ph.D. candidate in Water Resources Management and Development at Mzuzu University.
His fields of expertise are Water Resources Management, Water Resources Planning and Development, Disaster Risk Management, Vulnerability, and Capacity Assessment, Hydrological Analysis of Extreme Events and Environmental & Social Impact Assessment (ESIA)
