Nursing and Midwifery Programme
In the faculty of Nursing and Midwifery we offer a bachelor of Nursing and Midwifery. The programme is only offered under the generic mode.
Entry Requirements
The candidate should:
a.Between the ages of sixteen (16) to forty five (45) years.
b.A pass in MSCE with at least 6 credits in Mathematics, English, Biology, Physical Science and any other two subjects.
c.Be Successful in both written and oral interviews.
Degree Requirements
The degree has two components which run concurrently i.e. theory and clinical practice. Students will have to pass both components. They will have to undergo Nurses and Midwives Council of Malawi assessments while doing their clinical practice in different health facilities.
Course Structure
All students in the Faculty of Nursing and Midwifery shall take same courses.
Year One Semester one – 10 courses
Year One Semester two – 9 courses
Year Two Semester one – 4 courses
Year Two Semester two – 5 courses
Year Three Semester one – 5 courses
Year Three Semester two – 6 courses
Year Four Semester one – 4 courses
Year Four Semester two – 5 courses
Professional Recognition
Successful completion of the Bachelor of Science in Nursing and Midwifery degree programme qualifies our graduates for professional registration with the Nurses and Midwives Council of Malawi which is renewable annually.
