Catholic University of Malawi Launches Campaign to Support Needy Students

The Catholic University of Malawi has launched a campaign aimed at supporting needy students through a student endowment fund.

During the launch of the campaign, titled “Championing Higher Education for Needy Students”(CHENS), which took place on Friday afternoon, the Chairman of the University Council, Most Reverend Thomas Luke Msusa, appealed to well-wishers to assist students facing financial
challenges in pursuing their tertiary education.

“We have intelligent students who struggle to pay for their studies here at the Catholic University. To us, these students are the future pillars of Malawi, which is why we have initiated this effort to raise funds for them to complete their education,” said Archbishop Msusa.

He also praised the university management for their commitment to supporting students facing financial difficulties.

The Vice-Chancellor of the University, Prof. Francis Moto, acknowledged the generous support from well-wishers before the campaign’s launch and urged more individuals to contribute to this noble cause.

He emphasized the importance of raising funds for students from families with limited financial resources.

The CHENS campaign at the Catholic University of Malawi aims to raise approximately USD 576,600 to support these students.
